1:1

September 20, 2010

He ran and he hid, for all of his life.  Yet somehow, it always found him.

It seemed the more determined he was to escape it, the more determined it was to find him.

As though their battle was not one of action and conflict, but one of cold, hard numbers.

They were locked into some mathematical ratio.  They were 1:1, always equal, neither one ever in possession of the proverbial upper hand.

It was this thought that led him to the truth, the solution to their equation.

They were not just equal, they were the same.  They were  1:1.

It was a part of him and he a part of it.  And no matter how fast he ran, he could not outrun himself.  He could not hide from himself.
